Update to my comment below. I've taken any Houdini course out there worth taking. This is the best course if you are looking to go from basic setups to production level shots, or if you have any interest in lighting, scene assembly or USD (basically anyone in vfx). There are top quality courses that teach one aspect, like destruction (CGMA), magic (Rebelway) or water (Rebelway), but this is it for bringing it all together.

I have the problem, that I only see a flat grid without my spectrum although it should be applied. Ive been struggling with karma ocean issues for 20h straight in total. So Im a bit frustrated. I watched so many videos. Every video about karma oceans including masks etc. I need to increase dicing a lot to even see my ocean spectrum. However, no matter if a grid works or not. I need to apply the spectrum on a flip mesh which also gets masks etc. That ends up in a long long long initialization, so I consider mantra faster at this point. But even if I try mantra is continuously saying "processing displacement geometry". So I decreased my spectrum resolution although I even tried this in karma before + packed my flip mesh. What should I try now? Any ideas? I would really appreciate any tiny bit of help.

I love houdini. it's just so good, but the absurdity of how complex a simple task can be is baffling. eyes glazing over watching the protracted process of getting a basic kit bash model render ready for solaris with textures. meanwhile UE... drags in fbx.. renders
